Welcome to Lidköping

Our vision: Lidköping — a hospitable and sustainable municipality
Our vision

“We live essentially as we always have done; close to the water, the land and to one another.”

A hospitable and sustainable municipality — what does that actually mean? For us in Lidköping, the step from vision to reality is a short one. We live essentially as we always have done; close to the water, the land and to one another. What’s changed is probably the fact that we’ve put the way we’d like to be and what we’d like to be into words, which is not insignifi cant in an era of rapid-paced social changes, globalisation and threats to our environment.

Lidköping is, quite simply, a city where you always feel welcome, regardless of whether you’re a tourist, would like to do business here or if you’d like to settle here for the rest of your life. This is an approach that not only typifi es municipal activities but is also shared by the people who live here. This is a place where we enjoy getting together to discuss things and share our thoughts. How else would you explain the fact that a city of our size has over 30 cafés?
Then there’s the matter of sustainability. Nearly every city and company claim to be promoting long-term, sustainable development. It’s fantastic that so many people are working towards the same goal, but it’s also essential for ensuring that coming generations will be able to live as well as we do today. In Lidköping, we safeguard our lovely natural surroundings, focus our eff orts on tomorrow’s energy solutions and develop our community services for young and old alike, just to give a few examples. In this concise guide, you’ll fi nd a selection of the things that we do and you’ll get to know several people who have already decided
It’s easy to enjoy life in Lidköping. Three of four people living here would recommend the city to live and work here. You are also most welcome.
