The Vallien Room
Bertil Vallien is one of Sweden's most renowned glass artist. He has designed the entire room and the composition is unified through associations and connections to the city of Lidköping and the area surrounding Lake Vänern.
In the center of the room hangs a large glass boat created by Vallien. Look inside the boat, and you will see an entire world of symbols and figures. It hangs from the ceiling like a compass needle above the Lidan River, which flows across the massive stone floor towards Lake Vänern. A map of Lidköping’s street network can also be discerned in the flooring: the blue lines represent the Old Town, and the red lines the New Town. A room that simply must be experienced in person!
Welcome to Vänermuseet and our beautiful Vallien Room!
